This is an eight-week course which equips one with theoretical and practical training to become a qualified field guide. The course is an FGASA-accredited course.
The course covers topics such as geology, astronomy, weather and climate, basic ecology and taxonomy.
The course builds upon the learning, and therefore the first few weeks of the course is focused mainly on volunteering in order to give the participant exposure to wildlife and a chance to learn and understand the basics, thereafter regular lectures and training are done in preparation for the examination.
We recommend that those on this course spend time on the weekends polishing up their knowledge, as our helpful guides are always available to assist.
The program is designed for those that are interested in getting a glimpse of what veterinary science is all about, while also getting involved in wildlife and conservation experiences. This can be deemed a pre-vet program and does not require any prior knowledge or experience on the subject.
